Why did you join Vantage Movement? I loved the community — I had tried a couple of other gyms in the area and none of them compared to openness vantage exudes.

What’s been your biggest accomplishment? The rehabilitation of my shoulder. I had to take almost a year off from overhead movements and I finally feel like I’m improving with snatch and other movements that I dreaded for so long.

What are you working on now? Getting into a routine that I can stick to.

What’s your favorite Vantage Movement memory? Friday night bar fights!

What motivates you to continue training at Vantage Movement? The community, the fitness and feelings of accomplishment each workout brings.

Vantage Movement Review

Why did you join Vantage Movement? – I joined Vantage in 2013 on my sister’s encouragement. I was craving a new workout routine where I didn’t have to think and I would get a great workout.

CrossFit and Vantage was exactly what I was looking for. I was also new to Denver at the time and I was looking to meet new friends and build a little community in a new place.

What’s been your biggest accomplishment? – My biggest accomplishment is getting healthy and happy. I always thought I was a healthy person, but CrossFit put me into the best shape of my life, taught me about nutrition and most importantly, it taught me about balance. I am healthier both physically and mentally, it may sound small but that has been my biggest accomplishment.

What are you working on now? – I have lost almost 20 lbs! I am working on maintaining that progress now and just staying active overall – it helps me balance out my desk job!
What’s your favorite Vantage Movement memory? – Holiday party 2015 when I met my fiance Joel!

What motivates you to continue training at Vantage Movement? – The positive results I’ve seen physically and mentally, being constantly encouraged, pushed and supported during every workout and of course the amazing friends and community I’ve met at the gym!

Vantage Movement Review

The first time I ever stepped foot in Vantage I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I weighed 225 pounds and at a height of 5 and a half feet I was pretty overweight.

I had tried running but couldn’t run more than an eighth of a mile without having to walk and rest, I had never in my life been able to do a single pull up, and walking up to my 3rd story apartment got me breathing heavy. So when my wife talked me into trying a foundations class I really didn’t know what I was signing up for. At the end of the foundations classes we would have to scale the workouts dramatically so I could do them and even then I did not finish 2 of the 5. But somewhere in the midst of being more out of breathe than I could ever imagine and feeling like I was going to puke I started to enjoy it. The community would cheer me on and encourage me, and I could feel myself getting stronger and faster and having more endurance. So as I did things for the first time like run a mile and get pull ups I learned that with a good community around me, coaches who were willing to work as hard as I was willing to work and a measurable amount of perseverance my life could be whatever I wanted it to be. CrossFit changed my life not just because my weight is down 50 lbs or because I can workout without quitting but because I realized that I am capable of more than I had ever imagined possible.
