A Note About Equality

Breakfast – The most important meal of the day or created equal?

For years and years, people have said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. While I believe that all meals are equal as they all nourish your body and help maintain your blood sugar. I will say, having a solid balanced breakfast can really kick your day off in the right direction. If done correctly can help stabilize your blood sugar, keep you full and away from the snack drawer even help boost your energy and productivity for the day!

When thinking about your breakfast (as with any meal) here is how we want to think about constructing the meal:

  1. 1-2 Handfuls of protein-(ex: eggs, turkey, pork, chicken, whey 1-2 scoops).
  2. Add a Healthy Carb-Could be some Oats/Vegetable/and or fruit (or greens powder just to get in your veggies)
  3. Add a thumb size of Healthy Fats-(avocado, nuts, coconut milk, etc.)

I don’t know about you but my mornings are usually pretty rushed and busy, so I try to prep ahead and have my breakfast ready in advance.

Here’s what I’m eating for breakfast this week:

3 ounces of ground pork, seasoned with garlic, sage, basil, turmeric, salt and pepper and 1.5 cups of Kale salad (Kale, diced with a small amount of olive oil, lemon juice and seasoned to taste) and ½ an apple! All pre- made on Sunday night and prepackaged in a Tupperware and ready to go.

Breakfast in a pinch, on the go:

While Morning shakes are not my go to choice for my clients here is a great guide on how to make the perfect Food Replacement Breakfast Shake to help keep you full and energized throughout the day.

So, are all meals created equally? Well, who knows…? But they should all aim to be balanced and give you energy and sustain you until your next meal!
