Athlete of the MonthFebruary

Lyndsey Wesson

Our theme for this month is Vantage "OG's"! Lyndsey has been since almost the beginning! We're so grateful for her commitment to Vantage!

Tell us a little about yourself?

I am a Colorado Native, born and raised in Glenwood Springs. I went to school at CU Boulder where I studied Finance and International Business. Go Buffs and Go Broncos! I currently work at a finance/real estate company downtown. We specialize in affordable housing and work with low-income housing tax credits. I am an Asset Manager for about 92 properties nationwide.

How and when did you get started with CrossFit?

I started CrossFit about 7 ½ years ago up in Boulder, at CrossFit Roots. It was my senior year of college and my two best friends from childhood (who also went to CU) talked me into it. We all played sports together growing up and they knew I would like it. I still thank them to this day. I have been at Vantage for almost 5 years now! I still remember the day Coach X signed me up, the time has flown by. I’ve been a member at several gyms since my time at Roots, and nowhere compares to Vantage.

What recreational activities/hobbies to you do/have?

Other than CrossFit I enjoy running, Cyclebar and Soul Cycle, and the occasional snowboard trip. I also love any type of sporting event (especially football), live music, and traveling.

What is your favorite cheat meal?

My favorite cheat meal would have to be my Grandma’s homemade spaghetti and meatballs. It can’t be beat… she also makes the world’s best banana bread. Also, wine ☺

What is your favorite thing about CrossFit?

My favorite thing about CrossFit has been all the friendships that I’ve formed over the years. It is so fun for me to be able to come into the gym after a stressful day at work and be greeted by coaches and people that I love. I also love how efficient CrossFit is. We fit so much into just one hour, there’s nothing like it. My favorite movements include rowing, running, power cleans, hang power snatches, wall balls, back squats and dead lifts. Not to mention that the staff at Vantage is unparalleled. They’ve seen me through many ups and downs, injuries and PR’s.

What kind of positive affect has CrossFit had on you and your life?

CrossFit has been one of the most stable things in my life since college. I think you go through a lot of change and uncertainty in your 20’s, and CrossFit has provided me with consistency. It also serves as my foundation for other aspects of my health. Because of CrossFit I strive to eat healthier, get more sleep, drink more water, etc.
