Vantage Kids Coach
Katie grew up in the foothills of Vermont where she was indoctrinated into the world of gymnastics and fitness before she could walk. Growing up in a place where home was a gymnastics club and all her extended family were PE teachers, Katie developed a need to be active. This continued during high school, where she was a three-season athlete, competing in soccer, Nordic skiing, and lacrosse. While attending art school at Alfred University in western New York, Katie played varsity lacrosse and seized every spare moment to adventure in the hills.
Katie moved to Colorado nine years ago and has continued her adventures, “Colorado-style,” running away most weekends to hike, trail run, rock climb, mountain bike, and camp. Every summer for as long as she can remember, she has returned to Vermont to attend, coach and help direct her family-run Gymnastics Camp. At Dunkley’s, Katie teaches water skiing and wake boarding, CrossFit kids style conditioning, and coaches gymnastics on a daily basis to kids ranging in age from 6 to 17.
Katie has taught and coached in a number of different venues including club gymnastics, Girls on the Run, snowboarding, swimming, JV lacrosse, and CrossFit. She has been a K-12 art teacher for thirteen years and currently teaches at Centennial a School for Expeditionary Learning. As an educator she loves finding ways to bring physical activity into the art classroom and creative approaches to learning new movements into her coaching style. “I know how important it is for my body to move and I love sharing the power of movement with my students.
