When I was growing up my friends and I would often talk about “Dad Strength” No matter how big and strong we got, your Old Man would always be bigger, stronger, faster and more of a Badass than you.
Everyone’s Father had that same build, Broad Shouldered, thick handed, Intimidating. I don’t know if was only a respect thing, a fear thing, or just a factual thing. It seemed like every time they’d pat you on the back they’d pop a vertebrae or seven.
But it’s not this type of Dad Strength I’m going to talk about today. As I’ve learned the last four years, a Dad’s true strength comes from deep inside. Those broad shoulders come from holding the weight of the world on your shoulders. Don’t get me wrong, mom is the glue that holds the family together, but it’s a Dad’s grip that holds on while the glue sets.
Dad Strength is more than just the death grip in a handshake.
It’s a test of character.
Dad Strength comes from more than years of manual labor on the weekends.
It comes from working toward your vision.
Dad Strength is more than the strength to throw a handful of “morons” into the back of a car.
It’s the power to raise your kids up right.
Dad Strength is more than the power of intimidation.
True Dad Strength is the power of inspiration.
Inspiration to
Hold on when everyone else would let go.
Do more than those around you
Work harder than the next guy.
Work smarter than that guy too.
Encourage those around you
Old Man Strength isn’t just designated to the Fathers, but to the Uncles and Father figures that we all have in our lives.
Train Hard. Happy Fathers Day
