We’re one week into this amazing journey, we’ve started mixing in new toys, new movements and new athletes.  Many of you also participated in the Tough Mudder and/or CrossFit for Hope.  I wanted to take time today to talk about recovery.

Recovery plays an important role in our training.  And sorry fella’s you can’t lay on the couch all weekend and tell your lady “Coop, said I need to recover.” Recovery is not a rest day filled with a whole lot of doing nothing. Recovery is an active process to help restore your body to it’s normal condition.

As athletes you use your bodies day in and day out, both in the gym and in the real world.  Applying recovery methods to your everyday and weekly routine will help you achieve all the positive outcomes you desire in both the gym and your life.

There are quite a few different methods we believe help your recovery.  Some are more applicable with the fast paced, over-worked life you lead. Some aren’t applicable but you should really think about spicing your life up a little bit.

By paying attention to your recovery you will help increase your hormone response, improve your immune system function, reduce inflammation, increase muscle development and strength, reduce the risk of injury, increase your performance, reduce the odds of sucking at life, and increase your ability to be F’n AWESOME.
