My Mom makes the most amazing meatballs and spaghetti in the world. I am 100% biased but I grew up in a very Italian neighborhood, so it’s not like I’m sheltered. When I was a kid, it was the best thing in the world. When I was home from college, nothing was better when your drunk then Mom’s cold spaghetti and meatballs. Even now that I’m an adult, it’s still numero uno when visiting Mom and Dad. I don’t get to indulge very often. It’s a special treat when we get fresh Spaghetti and Meatballs and I treat it as such. This is one of the main reasons after all these years I still love it so much. That and the fact it’s the most amazing meatballs and spaghetti ever.

Wether we dine in, take out, or create our own, many of us abuse these treats. We have them and then have the leftovers. We try a new recipe and then make more, We run through the entire entrĂ©e section and then start over again cause we forgot what the first meal tasted like. These aren’t cheat meals as much as they are affairs.

If cleaning up nutrition is on of the top on your Goal Design sheet than start by limiting the amount of times you let yourself indulge. Take responsibility for what you allow into your body. It’s easy to say “it’s my last cheat meal, I’ll start tomorrow” and then not follow through. Instead say to yourself, “Self, tonight we treat ourselves and tomorrow we start earning another treat.”

We’re gonna be getting into the “Why Paleo” question here in the next few weeks and our first “Nutritional Challenge” in the next few months. So enjoy the relatively guilt free pleasures of food while you can.
