Tell us a little about yourself?
I’m originally from Belleville Illinois and I’m an admin assistant at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
How and when did you get started with CrossFit?
I started CrossFit in February of 2018. I had a surgery in August of 2017 and was having trouble building upper body strength. I didn’t know anything about CrossFit but my husband suggested I should go since all I was doing was cardio based classes and running. CrossFit always intimidated me so I didn’t really want to go. My first class was a 5am class, I didn’t like it since I had no idea what I was doing. I wasn’t going to come back, but as I was leaving I saw Chris and he mentioned I should try foundations so I thought okay I’ll give that a try and then stop going. Amanda was my coach during foundations and she was great! She made me feel welcomed at the gym and less intimidated. I was sold!
What recreational activities/hobbies to you do/have?
I enjoy running, teaching yoga and taking yoga, skiing and hiking.
What is your favorite cheat meal?
I love pizza and beer!
What is your favorite thing about CrossFit?
I love the community and coaches at Vantage. Everyone is great which makes going to class even more enjoyable. I like the self challenge CrossFit brings. I still don’t have that pull up but I’m getting closer!
What kind of positive affect has CrossFit had on you and your life?
CrossFit has helped me regain my strength in my upper body and I’m able to run a faster mile. In so many workouts the mind is able to wonder but in CrossFit I find myself staying present and pushing harder with each movement.
