Mike Blick

One Badass Dad!

Tell us a little about yourself?

I am a native born Coloradoan, born in Denver – and grew up in the northern suburb of Thornton. I am married & have boy-girl twins, Zephyr & Scarlet, whom you likely see either at CrossFit Kids or running wild on Saturday mornings before the WOD. Yes, having two at the same was/is hard – but no I cant say how much harder (if at all) than having one, we all have our challenges! I have a masters in business and for work I am a project/product manager for a company in Boulder that builds website on the interwebs. Sarcasm is a big part of life.

How and when did you get started with CrossFit?

I started 6 years ago when the twins were one. They were walking by then and were pretty active, I quickly realized i needed to be able to run and grab one then run to grab the other and carry both at the same time. Sounded like a CrossFit workout to me! I emailed Chris and Amanda and have been obsessed since.

What recreational activities/hobbies to you do/have?

As the kiddos schedule allows I enjoy the typical Colorado stuff – Snowboard, mountain Bike, Hike, Camp, Yoga etc…. My hobby is Beer/Mezcal/Whisky drinking.

What is your favorite cheat meal?

Big smothered breakfast burrito w/ eggs, sausage, cheese & potatoes. Crisp the tortilla!

What is your favorite thing about CrossFit?

First and foremost the community Chris & Amanda have created with Vantage is amazing. Coaches are pretty great too. As for movements/WOD anything with deadlifts/rowing – and the 12 days of Christmas is my fave WOD of the year.

What kind of positive affect has CrossFit had on you and your life?

I am stronger and fitter than I have ever been, but more than that I have gained mental resiliency & confidence (suffering through some of these wods will do that). Made some great friends too!
