Clydesdale Cycle

January 2025 Programming:

What’s Up Vantage, In this video we’ll be taking a closer look at our first cycle of the New Year.  We’re calling it our Clydesdale Cycle

Now before we dive into why we’re calling it that and what it will entail, I wanted to take a second and look back at where we ended 2024.

We’ve spent the last half of the year focusing on a lot of strength work with some active recovery days and a good mixture of multi-modality conditioning work,  which is a fancy way of saying blending barbells, gymnastics and cardio.

As we look into the new year, we’re taking a few pages from our history and this year we will be focus our training on improving our Colorado Athletes.

Now, to our Next Cycle:

We’re calling it our Clydesdale Cycle because it’s going to be focusing on Horse Power. Over the next 8 weeks, we will be working on strength, power, and overall output in terms of performance. Basically, it’s your ability to produce work quickly and efficiently, which is especially relevant in sports and strength training.

Step 1 is Strength Development. We will continue to lift 3-4x/week to build the raw strength required to generate more power. You’ll see variations of your favorite lifts. Squatting, Pressing and Hinging. From there, we’ll transition into more of an Explosive Power phase where we will Incorporate more dynamic movements that require speed and power, such as Olympic lifts, jump variations, and sprints. And we’ll finish this cycle out with Power Endurance and Conditioning. This will enhance the ability to maintain explosive power over longer durations and improve cardiovascular conditioning. Also known as Endurance at high intensity (sustaining performance under heavy or strenuous effort for longer durations)

By following this progressive approach, you’ll increase both raw strength and explosive power, giving you more "horsepower" in your overall fitness and performance over the course of two months.

Snow sport season is in full swing, so we’re now shifting our focus to combat the holiday excess and prep for events in late February and early March.  This cycle mixed with a few nutritional habit improvements will start your 2025 journey off in the right direction.  If you’ve got questions, message us, leave a comment below or email us at [email protected]
