I had some really bad habits as a kid. One of them would be to start stories somewhere in the middle and work my way back to the start and play it through to the end. My audiences we’re completely lost and if I was lucky, someone might stick around long enough for me to get around to the full thing. That Sucked. My excitement for the story would lead me to blow past the setup, skip crucial points, and then try to make up for it after. This would leave me with an underwhelming performance and as a result, the belief that I was a shitty story teller.
It took a lot, and I mean A LOT of practice to figure out that I needed to start each story at the beginning and work my way through the details if I wanted the result of having everyone understand and enjoy my stories.
