Nutrition, The Foundation, The Base, what we’re all “Pretty Good” at. Nutrition is the base of the Fitness Pyramid because what you put into your body has a direct influence on how you perform in the gym, on the field, in the mountains and in everything you do in your daily life. It also has a massive impact on how your body recovers from these events and training sessions.
Eating the proper foods and ENOUGH of them will affect all aspects of physical activity you undertake. Proper foods are Lean Meats, Vegetables, Fruits, Nuts and Seeds, the Proper amount will be decided based off Your Personal Goals, Activity Level and a few other unique factors.
If you’ve been doing CrossFit for awhile and you’re not seeing the results you want, let’s start by taking a look at your nutrition. Of all the habits you have, Nutrition can often be the hardest habit to change. What we eat and drink can be influenced by social settings, emotional stressors, food allergies, cultural beliefs, and how well we plan ahead. But just because changing those habits will be hard doesn’t mean it won’t be worth it.
We don’t preach a specific diet, or way of eating. What we do preach is Eating Real Foods and Eating them for a Purpose. Each of you reading this is unique. You have different allergies, different likes and dislikes, you come from different backgrounds and have different goals. Knowing this and accepting that there isn’t a One Size Fits all nutritional prescription will make changing your habits and building that solid foundation much easier.
